Pilot study, Germany

In June 2021, project coordinator Prof. Dr. Maike Schindler and Lukas Baumanns together with a student assistant conducted a pilot study for the DIDUNAS project in Germany. For this, they went to two primary schools in Cologne and in Essen, Germany, where they conducted an eye-tracking study with 65 first graders. The purpose was to develop and test tasks for later use in the DIDUNAS-app.

The eye-tracking data will also be used to determine differences in strategies between students with and without risk of developing mathematical difficulties. Findings from this pilot study were submitted for presentation to the 12th Congress of the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education (CERME12).
